Good morning everyone,

Today is a proud day for Carleton University.

I am very pleased to share the news that Carleton has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for a second consecutive year.

This is an incredible achievement, given there are over 1.3 million employers and 220 universities in Canada. To be selected among the best is an honour and something we can all take great pride in, as it reflects the strong culture we’ve built here together.

The Top 100 judges consider eight key areas including work atmosphere; healthy and family friendly benefits; vacation and personal time off; employee engagement; training and skills development; and community involvement.

Carleton’s innovative approach to supports, benefits and programs for our staff and faculty has distinguished us from other employers across the country.

I am also pleased to share that the Students and Enrolment division has achieved the Canada Awards for Excellence (CAE) gold level certification from Excellence Canada’s Organizational Excellence Standard (OES) in 2023.

This gold level certification indicates that we have “achieved a comprehensive approach to excellence, innovation and wellness with positive results and quantifiable improvement.” This is due, in great part, to our Helping Ravens Soar strategic plan, departmental plans for students and enrolment, division Town Halls and onboarding program, as well as other key strengths.

The Students and Enrolment division began the OES journey a few years ago, earning bronze level certification in Excellence, Innovation and Wellness in June 2019.

I want to thank everyone involved in making these recognitions possible and making Carleton a great place to work.

Sincerely,

Jerry Tomberlin
Interim President and Vice-Chancellor
