For the past 100 years, IIE has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to providing threatened and displaced scholars with career-and life-saving support. IIE rescued its first scholars during the Bolshevik Revolution and has saved academics from nearly every world crisis since then—including this past year during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
In 2020, IIE’s Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) supported over 190 threatened and displaced scholars from 31 countries. The work done by IIE-SRF begins long before a fellowship is awarded and continues well after a scholar is integrated into his or her host institution and community. All of it is made possible by the generosity of our donors.
The IIE-SRF is the only global program that arranges and funds fellowships for threatened and displaced scholars at partnering higher education institutions worldwide. At the heart of IIE-SRF is the idea that each scholar we support is a beacon of hope in our world.
Building upon IIE’s century-long legacy of assisting students and scholars under threat, IIE-SRF has since 2002 supported 901 scholars from 60 countries in partnership with 428 host institutions in 50 countries.
The IIE-SRF is a vital partner in SAR Carleton’s program. For more information, or to consider donating, click here.
