The first annual conference of the “Placement, Preservation and Perseverance: Afghan scholars, students and activists” (PPP) research project will be held at Carleton University on November 2-3. The PPP is a collaboration between Carleton University and the University of British Columbia, and supported by the government of Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC). The conference will bring together Afghan scholars, activists and students as well as the wider Scholars at Risk community in Canada to discuss the effects of the Taliban takeover on Afghanistan’s education sector and academic freedom.
The conference speakers and participants will discuss and explore a diverse but inter-connected set of themes guiding multiple panel discussions and roundtables. The conference will also include a roundtable discussion with Afghan scholars, activists and students on building intergenerational connections, and a panel with former SAR fellows and SAR program administrators on the academic job market in North America.
This is an in-person event only. More information will be posted on this website soon.
