External Exam Services
External exam services are offered through the McIntyre Exam Centre (MEC), a part of Carleton University’s Scheduling and Examination Services (SES) department. Our center hosts test-takers for all types of assessments including computer-based and paper-based, with a specialization in accommodated exams. Our staff members possess comprehensive training in AODA compliance, mental health, and emergency procedures, enabling them to effectively support students who require accommodations based on documented needs.
Making a booking
We accept a window of at least 10 business days between submitting your booking and the exam date. This allows enough time for your exam to arrive from your home institution and our staff to coordinate resources within our facility. If you require an earlier booking and your exam can be express-mailed, we’ll try to accommodate your request.
Payment and cancellation policy
Payment can be made by: Visa, Mastercard, Visa/Debit, and Interac Online. There is a non-refundable application fee of $25 + HST you need to pay up front when booking your exam. We will contact you via email within 2 business days after reviewing your booking, and provide further details with regards to the remaining exam fee (a payment link will be included). Please ensure the full payment is made at least 5 business days before your exam date to complete your booking.
If full payment is not received by the 5-day deadline, we reserve the right to cancel your booking request. If you cancel an exam booking less than 3 business days prior, a cancelation fee up to 50% of your full payment may be withheld.
Rescheduling policy
Please check your institution’s exam policy first before rescheduling with us. We require at least 2 weeks’ notice for any rescheduling request in writing through ExternalExams@carleton.ca. For any requests later than that, our cancellation policy will apply.
