Dan Patterson is an instructor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Carleton University. He is a physical geographer by training and still retains interests in that field. Some of the areas of study Dan teaches are Geographic Information Systems, physical geography and statistics.

Outside of Carleton, Dan has published several papers delving into the biodiversity and agriculture in Ethiopia. He is also the recipient of several awards, which are a testament to his commitment to teaching.

In 2014, Dan won a Carleton University Professional Achievement Award and the Capital Educators’ Award, which recognizes teaching excellence in the Ottawa area. And in 2015, he was recognized with an ESRI International User Conference, GeoNet MVP Award.
