The Carleton University Library hosted its fourth Ugandan Asian Archives road show in Calgary on Saturday, May 6th at the BMO Centre, Calgary Exhibition and Stampede Grounds.
The event featured an archival exhibit and a panel discussion between Mike Molloy, former Canadian ambassador to Jordan and second in command in Kampala during the Ugandan Asian expulsion, Patti Harper, Head of Archives and Research Collections at Carleton University Library, and Shezan Muhammedi, PhD in History/Migration and Ethnic Relations and Advisor to the Uganda Collection.
Moderated by University Librarian Wayne Jones, the panel discussed the importance of the Ugandan Asian refugee story to Canadian immigration history, and the importance of preserving that history through the acquisition and preservation of archival documents and oral histories.
