Board Composition

Carleton University’s Board of Governors are a diverse group of 32 members with a unique understanding of higher education and its force for good. As the corporate body of the university, the Board provides oversight of budgetary and infrastructure decisions as well as appoints the school’s president and vice-chancellor and other key senior executives.

Breakdown of Board membership: 4 students, 2 faculty, 2 senators, 2 alumni. 2 staff and 18 community members. The ex-offico members are the President and Chancellor.

Board Committees

The Board has six standing committees to help exercise its oversight:

  • Executive
  • Audit and Risk
  • Building Program
  • Governance
  • Finance
  • Advancement and University Relations

The Board also appoints four of its members to serve as representatives on Carleton University’s Senate. Only two of these representatives are allowed to vote at each meeting of Senate.
