Ariel Birkinshaw

Data and Evaluation Officer

Ariel completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Applied Language Studies at Carleton University (2009). She joined the Accessibility Institute in 2023, bringing 14 years of experience in education, including roles as an educational assistant, office administrator, editor, and braille transcriptionist. She is also a Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification™ (RHFAC) Professional, with expertise in applying evidence-based accessibility standards to the built environment.

Ariel is passionate about connecting people to the information and resources that will help them fulfill their potential. She is also committed to making communications and the built environment more accessible for all. With lived experience of non-visible disabilities, she appreciates the value of collaboration and empowerment, and is proud to support Carleton’s culture of accessibility.
