Background
In 2006, Jenna Lambert became the first woman with a disability to successfully complete a crossing of Lake Ontario. She competed at the international level in Parasport until her early twenties. Through the Y Knot Abilities Programs, Jenna provided coaching support to young athletes with disabilities. Jenna’s passion to work with people and experiences in sport lead her to Carleton University where she completed a Bachelor of Communication Studies, followed by a Master of Social Work and most recently, a Master of Counselling and Spirituality at Saint Paul University. Following the completion of her MSW, Jenna was part of the inaugural team who began the ACT to Employ program at Carleton.
Since 2018, Jenna has worked as the Student Counsellor for ACT to Employ. The ACT Team works with students who identify as having a disability to create meaningful, paid experiential learning placements – opportunities for Carleton students to gain employability skills and meaningful employment experiences while they obtain their degree.
As a person with a disability, Jenna understands the complexities involved with navigating the job market for persons with disabilities, and works to create inclusive opportunities through education and community engagement. Jenna has also had the pleasure of working as a Program Coordinator for Carleton’s Equity and Inclusive Communities (formerly the Department of Equity Services) and with Easter Seals Ontario where she orchestrated fundraising events, cultivated community support and advocated for accessibility and inclusion for persons with disabilities and their families.
