CAN Administrative and Communications Coordinator

Shara is the Administrative and Communications Coordinator for the Canadian Accessibility Network (CAN), where she thrives on building connections and fostering collaboration. She works closely with partner organizations, individual members, the Governing and Advisory Councils, CAN Leadership, and four Communities of Practice—bringing people together, setting shared agendas, and supporting working groups to turn ideas into action.

Known for her engagement skill, Shara enjoys welcoming new collaborators, facilitating conversations, and representing CAN at public events. She organizes and implements the CAN Connect Forums and the quarterly CAN newsletter, creating spaces for knowledge sharing and collective problem-solving. As a member of the Sustainability Task Force, she is excited to support CAN’s growth in alignment with its Strategic Directives and to help shape the network’s future.

Her commitment to accessibility is grounded in lived experience with neurodiversity, mental health, and identity as a queer settler. Before joining CAN, Shara co-founded Propeller Dance, a nationally recognized inclusive dance and disability arts organization, where she spent 17 years as Artistic and Executive Co-Director, championing innovation in community-based and professional arts.
