Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft Copilot is an AI assistant integrated into Microsoft 365 applications that helps streamline tasks such as document creation, data analysis and meeting transcription to improve productivity and efficiency.
Copilot is offered in two main tiers: the free Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and the paid Microsoft 365 Copilot. Learn about how they compare.
Microsoft Copilot is Carleton’s Recommended GenAI Platform
Copilot is Carleton’s recommended GenAI platform because it:
- has successfully completed the university’s Data Protection Risk Assessment process and
- offers Enterprise Data Protection, meaning that AI chat sessions will not be stored or used for training.
Do you use a different generative AI platform for university business? If so, we urge you to complete a Data Protection Risk Assessment (DPRA) to assess if university-owned data is being ingested by the large language model and potentially used to train it. DPRAs are conducted in accordance with the university’s Cloud Computing Security policy.
