Ghadah Alrasheed is currently an ALiGN affiliate researcher.
Formerly, she was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the School of Journalism and Communication and Interim co-Director of the ALiGN Media Lab. At this position, she was committed to supporting partnerships between universities and civil society and facilitating conversations between academic institutes and local communities. She carried out research on the use of communication and media by vulnerable and marginalized communities. She coordinated the Lab’s community outreach programs and develops workshops for diverse community groups.
In the recent years, she worked as a senior research analyst for the Canada Centre for Community Engagement and Prevention of Violence. During her work in the Centre, she had experience in creating cross-sectorial collaborations among local and international stakeholders and organizations to study and prevent violent extremism.
Alrasheed has received her PhD from the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University. Her PhD research focuses on the political movements in the Middle East and North Africa, exploring the role of new media in the political changes in the region.
