Advanced Photonic Components Laboratory
Welcome to Carleton University’s APClab! We are a passionate team that aims to develop novel fiber-based technologies to unlock new capabilities in healthcare and engineering.
Since 2024, we have the privilege of being funded by the Canada Research Chair program for developing Advanced Photonic Sensing Components and Systems, with a primary focus on technologies amenable to point-of-care settings. The majority of our work is grounded in two overlapping avenues: fiber Bragg gratings and Brillouin spectroscopy. We are also contributing to joint efforts in other research areas include optimization of integrated photonic components and optical characterization of flames.
We are still in the early days (although the laboratory itself has a great history of success). We are often looking for motivated undergraduate and graduate students passionate about photonic research interested to join our team. If you are interested in knowing more about our current projects and opportunities, or if you are interested in collaborating with us, please do not hesitate to contact us (hubertjeanruel at cunet.carleton.ca).
