Simms wins Canadian Geotechnical Society Colloquium Lecture Award

Carleton University’s Paul Simms, associate professor in Environmental Engineering, was awarded the Canadian Geotechnical Society Colloquium Lecture award on Oct. 2 at the Canadian Geotechnical Conference. The title of his winning presentation was Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Behaviour of High Density Tailings.

“I feel very fortunate to receive this prestigious award,” said Simms. “Certainly, my colleagues and the support staff in my department and the research office have helped me tremendously, and I would like to thank them for their invaluable support.”

The Canadian Geotechnical Colloquium, established in 1977, is awarded annually to a younger member who provides information on a selected topic of particular importance to the geotechnical community. The Geotechnical Research Board selects the topic and the winner.
