Carleton’s Engineering program ranks among the best in the country. At Carleton, we have the distinct advantage of being situated in the nation’s capital, which offers our students unique opportunities. We also live in a city that is renowned, both at home and abroad, for its natural beauty and its quality of life. We recognize that practical, engineering-related experience would help students succeed in their studies and build a strong record that makes them top contenders for engineering positions after graduation. We, therefore, encourage our students to participate in the co-op program and First Year Internship program.
A co-op program is available for all undergraduate programs and provides a unique combination of study and work experience terms ranging in length from 4 to 16 months. See the Co-op website for details on the Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering Co-op programs)
A special first-year summer internship may be available for students with a Canadian high school diploma based on their entry average and performance in the first year. Eligible students are given the opportunity to be placed in a university research lab or industry. This internship is not required for graduation and students do not need to apply. For more information, visit the First-Year Internship Program page.
Carleton University has one of the most generous scholarship and bursary programs in Canada. Visit the Undergraduate Admission page for the list of scholarships and bursaries.
