Paul Van Geel receives graduate mentoring award
The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs and the Office of the Vice-President (Research and International) hosted the 2013 Faculty Graduate Mentoring Awards on Jan. 21. These awards recognize faculty who render exceptional service to graduate students as supervisors and research mentors. The effect of such faculty on the careers of students is frequently transformational.
Below are a few comments made by their nominees.
- Paul truly cares about the well-being of his students by maintaining a perfect balance between challenging us and also providing insightful advice.
- Professor Van Geel….is always on the lookout for interesting conferences or workshops related to our research for myself and his other graduate students to attend and always offers to pay the associated entry fees. He has told me that as I near completion of my Master’s he is more than willing to make calls to a number of the local environmental engineering companies to promote me for employment. This shows just how much he cares about his students’ development and future endeavours.
