Prof. Banu Örmeci selected as an International Water Association (IWA) Fellow

Congratulations to Prof. Banu Örmeci for receiving another prestigious international recognition as she has been selected as an International Water Association (IWA) Fellow.

IWA Fellows and IWA Distinguished Fellows are members of a unique community comprising global water professionals with international recognition; known for their guidance and leadership in the world of water science, technology and management in the water sector as it continues to evolve.

The aim of this Fellowship is to recognise the impact of particular individuals on the water profession and sector, and to provide leadership and mentorship to a trans-disciplinary community empowered to combine together various leading-edge scientific breakthroughs, technological developments and creative mind sets from the various IWA groups.

Prof. Banu Örmeci is a professor in Environmental Engineering, as well as the Jarislowsky Chair in Water and Health, and the Director of the Global Water Institute at Carleton University.

She is leading an innovative research group and made important contributions to the advancement of science, technology, and practice. Her research program is internationally recognized and focuses on wastewater and biosolids treatment, removal of biological and chemical contaminants, development of new, innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective treatment technologies, and improvement of treatment processes at treatment plants.
