Dan Carson
Senior Principal Building Structures, WSP Canada
- M.Eng., P.Eng.
Dan Carson prides himself on providing excellence in service and in technical solutions. Dan’s approach to every project is to work with a “partnered” philosophy where engineering service is provided as an appropriate response to the goals and objectives of all stakeholders. “I know that every successful project is a result of a team effort. Teamwork, communication, and common sense are the best foundations to build on”. Dan brings his expertise in structures for both new construction and rehabilitation to every project, large and small.
Dan embraces the corporate commitment to sustainability in all our structural design work. He understands that the structure is just a part of the whole and that real sustainability is achieved by an integrated and holistic approach to projects. Designs are conceived to ensure minimum waste, durable structures, ease of reuse of structures, and maximize the use of recycled products. Our goal is to tread lightly on the planet in all our work.
Dan is the leader of Halsall’s structural design group in the Ottawa Office. He has successfully completed over 2000 projects in the Ottawa area. Dan joined Halsall in 1978. He has over 34 years experience in structural design and construction of new buildings, investigation and restoration of existing buildings.
In his personal life, Dan has a continuing commitment to volunteering. He is currently a regular volunteer at a local non-profit Daycare serving children in the lowertown area of Ottawa, and Carleton University Engineering School Advisory Council. He has also been a long-time volunteer with UNICEF, Scouts Canada, and community youth soccer,
