Yes. Visitors who have work permits and visits longer than 6 months may be eligible for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) after a three month waiting period. Visit the OHIP website for more information.
- Do Visiting Scholars Get Carleton (@carleton.ca) Email Accounts?
-
Visiting scholars are considered affiliates rather than staff and as such, they are not provided with Carleton email accounts upon their arrival. Access to email and campus computing services can be requested at the discretion of the department. While visiting scholars may not require a Carleton email address for their work, they would require a Carleton email address in order to access Carleton’s wifi, so it may be beneficial for departments to request email accounts for scholars who are staying for a longer term as a convenience.
- Can Visiting Researchers Get Carleton Library Access?
-
Yes. Carleton International will facilitate library access for visiting researchers.
- Can Visiting Scholars Register for Courses?
-
Visiting scholars are not enrolled in an academic program at Carleton. When appointed, they will hold affiliate status and are not eligible to register in courses unless done so as a fee paying special student.
- Can Visiting Researchers Access to the Athletics Facility?
-
Yes. Short-term memberships can be purchased at the welcome desk at Athletics. Click here for more information.
