John Mania
Research Associate
John is an experienced public safety, investigative and regulatory professional with a background in investigations, regulatory oversight, and stakeholder engagement built upon twenty years in the private sector.
His work with NC-CIPSeR focuses on emergency management and preparedness, civil protection, and critical infrastructure protection, security and resilience. Currently a Research Associate with the Centre, he has authored or co-authored submissions on civil resilience and CI modernization. He led the Centre’s response for Public Safety Canada’s Emergency Management Engagement and is the co-auther of the first D-CIPSeR policy report on the Department of National Defence’s role in Canada’s critical infrastructure framework. Having joined NC-CIPSeR early, John helped establish the Volunteer Program, and was one of several facilitators for the Civil Protection Workshop in Cantley, Quebec, that brought Germany’s THW team together with Canadian partners focused on capability.
A licensed private investigator in Ontario, John also brings extensive experience in investigative interviewing, regulatory compliance, operational policy and inter-agency collaboration.
