It is always best to reach out to potential supervisors first to confirm that they have openings in their lab for someone with your background and research interests. It is also possible to apply directly to the program.
Students wishing to work with a specific supervisor must apply to the DSAAI Master’s program of the home unit of the supervisor. For a Systems and Computer Engineering supervisor, you should apply to M.A.Sc. Data Science and Analytics or M.Eng. Data Science and Analytics. For a School of Computer Science supervisor, you should apply for M.C.S. Data Science and Analytics. For a School of Information Technology supervisor, you should apply to M.I.T. Data Science and Analytics. For a School of Mathematics and Statistics supervisor, you should apply to M.Sc. Data Science and Analytics.

DSAAI-Specific
-
Yes, the DSAAI programs are open to international students.
-
This depends on the type of DSAAI program stream you opt for.
Thesis and project streams require a supervisor. The coursework stream does not require a supervisor.
For thesis and project streams, in your application, you must select at least one potential supervisor you would like to work with within your desired research area of interest. See the list of potential supervisors here: DSAAI Faculty.
DSAAI Faculty have access to all applications. If the faculty member(s) listed in your application decide not to accept you as their student, then your file will be open to all DSA faculty members for consideration. The DSA degree designation (M.A.Sc, M.Eng, M.C.S, M.I.T, M.Sc) is determined by the home unit of the supervisor. If you accept the supervision of a faculty member in a different department than the one you applied, you will be required to change your DSA degree designation. This will be done internally.
-
Please only apply to one DSAAI degree program. You should apply to the degree program based on the department in which your preferred first-choice supervisor is located. You may select faculty members from another department for your following choices; you would not need to apply again. However, if you decide to accept an offer with a supervisor in a department that is different from the degree program you applied to, you will need to change your DSAAI degree program to follow that of your assigned supervisor. This will be done internally.
