The Inaugural Kanta Marwah Lecture has been named in honor of Dr. Kanta Marwah to recognize her exceptional contributions to the field of Economics. Dr. Marwah is a distinguished Research Professor and Professor Emeritus of Economics having dedicated over 50 years of service to Carleton. In 1967, she joined Carleton University’s Department of Economics as its first female professor. In addition to teaching and training thousands of students in the demanding fields of econometrics, statistical methods, macroeconomics and mathematical economics, Dr. Marwah has over 60 major publications, including two books, a number of refereed articles in top economic journals, and has presented research papers at numerous conferences.

Dr. Marwah has many ‘firsts’ associated with her career which reflect her unique journey, achievements, and contributions to the department over her academic career. We have all been touched by her generosity. Her support will help enhance research activities of current and future generations of economists here in the department.”
