Biography
Michael grew up in Ottawa, specifically in the West end Kanata-Stittsville area. He originally came to Carleton in the Fall of 2014 to study engineering, but found he did not like it very much and switched over to Economics after his second year. He really enjoyed economics and went on to pursue the Bachelor of Economics Honours degree, and graduated in the Fall of 2020, starting his Masters shortly afterwards in the winter of 2021.
What will you pursue next?
Recently I started working in the private sector for a cybersecurity company called Fortinet as a sales/data analyst, so I plan to focus on that for the next little while. I am considering pursuing a PhD in economics in the future, but for now I am planning on taking a short break from academics.
What did you enjoy the most working at Carleton?
The community was probably the thing I enjoyed the most working at Carleton. I had the opportunity to work with so many great, talented, smart, and hard-working people who I could not have finished my Masters without. I also loved how knowledgeable and helpful my economics professors were. My economics professors were one of the main reasons I picked Carleton for my masters. I want to give a special shoutout to Professor Minjoon Lee who helped and inspired me to pursue my masters. I would also like to thank Professor Frances Woolley for the help/advice she gave me for graduate school and Professor Raul Razo-Garcia who provided me with lots of one-on-one help/advice during my masters.
