EDIT-STEM
EDIT-STEM (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Transformation for STEM) is a national research initiative dedicated to the development and evaluation of evidence-based tools aimed at advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Rather than delivering programming or services, the initiative focuses on creating and studying interactive technologies that can be used by individuals and institutions in their own contexts.
Launched at Carleton University in October 2024, and in collaboration with Dalhousie University, EDIT-STEM connects experts from across disciplines and sectors to explore new ways of supporting change in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) environments. The aim is to move beyond awareness, and toward real action, helping individuals and institutions make meaningful, lasting improvements to how STEM is taught, practiced, and experienced.

We focus on identifying and addressing systemic barriers that limit access, opportunity, and fair treatment in STEM.
Diversity
We recognize the value of varied backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences in strengthening research and innovation.
Inclusion
We prioritize creating environments where everyone feels respected, supported, and able to contribute fully.
Collaboration
We work across disciplines and sectors, believing that complex problems require shared expertise.
Mission
To develop, study, and disseminate research-based interactive technologies that contribute to efforts to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM.
