Dr. Alisha Szozda ( She/Her )

Postdoctoral Fellow at Carleton University

Dr. Alisha Szozda is a Postdoctoral Fellow on the EDIT-STEM Team, bringing specialized expertise in chemistry education research following her PhD from the University of Ottawa. Her contributions to the project include leading a systematic literature review, gathering validity evidence for developed tools, conducting semi-structured interviews with stakeholders, and collaborating closely with partner organizations to ensure practical applicability and impact.

Dr. Szozda’s experience spans local and international initiatives, such as leading the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast Event at Carleton, contributing to IUPAC’s Systems Thinking in Chemistry for Sustainability project (Toward 2030 and beyond), and engaging with the Green Chemistry Teaching and Learning Community through Beyond Benign. These efforts demonstrate her ability to foster global networks while advancing sustainable, inclusive educational practices.

Deeply passionate about teaching, she embeds equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles into learning environments, making complex chemistry concepts accessible and relevant for diverse students. Through her multifaceted role on EDIT-STEM, Dr. Szozda strengthens the project’s foundation in evidence-based design and equitable STEM education.
