Dr. Cynthia Cruickshank ( She/Her )

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Professor at Carleton University

Dr. Cynthia Cruickshank is the Associate Dean (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) in the Faculty of Engineering and Design, a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Director of the Centre for Advanced Building Envelope Research (CABER) at Carleton University. She completed both her B.A.Sc. and Ph.D. at Queen’s University, where she focused on thermal solar energy use and storage. 

Dr. Cruickshank joined Carleton in 2009 and rapidly expanded her research program, culminating in the establishment of CABER in 2019 to support full-scale experimental evaluation of building envelope materials and assemblies.Since 2009, she has supervised 55 graduate students in advanced building energy research and secured over $8.5 million in research support, contributing to more than 140 refereed publications. Her work centres on the evaluation of innovative materials and assembly techniques for both new construction and deep energy retrofits, in close collaboration with government and industry partners. Through this work, Dr. Cruickshank is advancing high‑performance building envelopes that support more sustainable, energy‑efficient built environments.
