The Director General of Natural Resources Canada’s CanmetENERGY Devon Research Centre, Dr Cécile Siewe, along with two senior members of her staff: María-Inés Maita (Director of Science and Policy Integration), and Dr Kim Kasperski (R&D Advisor to the Director General and Director of Environmental Impact Research) visited Carleton’s Energy and Emissions Research Lab (EERL) on October 11th, 2017.

After a morning of meetings discussing the ongoing collaborations between CE-Devon and the EERL, the visitors were taken on a tour of the laser-based detection lab in the Canal building and Carleton’s Flare lab in the Mackenzie Building.  EERL students and staff researchers provided informal presentations on their work via posters on display in the Flare lab.  The CE-Devon visitors were especially interested by recent work on methane emissions and techno-economic analysis of flaring, venting, and fugitives in the oil and gas sector.
