We would like to thank you for your continued support of Carleton University’s Co-op program and its students during these unprecedented times. Partnerships have never been more important and we appreciate your updates on your current student work arrangements and plans for the upcoming summer work term.
Flexibility and communication are key and our office is here to support you. We would like to share some resources to help you navigate this new environment with your co-op students.
- Employer FAQ We continue to update our Employer COVID FAQs based on real-time questions we are receiving from employers.
- Supporting co-op students remotely The recent COVID-19 outbreak has dramatically changed our workforce and the number of employees working from home has increased significantly. We have curated some tips and best practices we are seeing within our employer community, for supporting remote work arrangements for your co-op students.
- Funding Resources Your organization may be eligible for funding to offset the cost to hire your student for the summer. The Student Work Placement Program provides eligible organizations with $5000 – $7000 in wage subsidies. Details, including the application forms, are included on our site and applications are now being accepted for the summer term. Please contact the Business Development Team if you have questions about solutions for your organization.
- Summer Recruitment Students from all program areas (Engineering, Computer Science, Public Affairs, Business, Arts and Science) are still available for summer work terms. Start dates are flexible and students could start in June. Our office is continuing to post jobs and schedule interviews. Interviews can be arranged by phone, web conference, Skype or Zoom.
It is encouraging to hear about the many creative solutions that employers are putting in place to support and enable their co-op students.
