Please join the Department of English and the Creative Writing Concentration in welcoming Katie Tallo, best-selling author of the Augusta Monet crime-fiction series. Katie will read selections from her novels and speak about her experience writing page-turning thrillers. All are welcome to come by and join a conversation about fiction writing, crime fiction, getting published, and more. If you have ever wondered about the intricate plotting of crime-fiction narratives or finding inspiration in your hometown, Katie Tallo is the writer to ask.
Author, Katie Tallo grew up in Ottawa. She studied Film and English Literature at Carleton University, and TV Broadcasting at Algonquin College. She then embarked on a decades-long, award-winning career as a screenwriter and director, collaborating on projects in animation, television, and motion pictures. In 2013, after winning an international contest for unpublished women writers, she began writing novels. Katie’s debut novel was published by HarperCollins in 2020. Dark August was an instant international bestseller. She has since written two more novels including Poison Lilies and her upcoming thriller, Buried Road. Katie lives in the Wellington West neighborhood of Ottawa with her husband.
