Canada Training Benefit
The Canada Training Benefit program aims to help Canadians pay for their training and keep their skills relevant. It includes:
Canada Training Credit
A non-taxable refundable tax credit that helps with training fees. Eligible works may accumulate a credit balance of $250 per year, up to a lifetime limit of $5000. The credit can be used to pay for up to half the cost of tuition and fees.
Employment Insurance Training Support Benefit
Provides workers up to four weeks of income support through the Employment Insurance (EI) system. This benefit helps workers on training leave cover living expenses.
To be eligible for the Canada Training Benefit, you must:
- File an income tax and benefit return for the year
- Be a Canadian resident
- Be between the ages of 25 and 64
- Have earning for work of at least $10,000, including maternity or parental leave benefits
- Have an income below $150,000
