Jean-Sébastien Marier is a bilingual university educator, journalist, and multiskilled producer. Since earning his Master of Journalism from Carleton University in 2011, he has spent over a decade reporting and producing across platforms, contributing to thousands of radio episodes, TV newscasts, and digital stories.

Beyond his work in traditional broadcasting, Jean-Sébastien has developed a solid reputation in the podcasting industry. He has hosted and produced several episodes of Foresight: The CPA Podcast and serves as the French-language producer for the Canadian Rheumatology Association’s Around the Rheum podcast. He also facilitates professional workshops on research techniques and data journalism, bridging the gap between industry practice and academic theory.

After years of adjunct teaching, Jean-Sébastien transitioned to a full-time academic career in 2019. To this day, he has taught 60 sections of communication, journalism, and multimedia courses. He is currently an Instructor of Media Production and Design (MPAD) at Carleton University and a Long-Term Appointment Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Ottawa.

Jean-Sébastien remains active in the newsroom as a casual reporter and producer. Notably, he recently coordinated and produced a live radio special on the “Freedom Convoy,” and he continues to serve as a frequent fill-in TV reporter and radio newsreader.
