David Gourlay is a seasoned executive and community leader with a career defined by his passion for people, philanthropy, and sports. Currently serving as CEO of the Shepherds of Good Hope Foundation, David brings a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors, along with a longstanding commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive Ottawa.

After more than 15 years in senior roles with the Government of Canada and the City of Ottawa, David transitioned to the private sector for over a decade before joining the Shepherds of Good Hope Foundation in 2020. First as Director, then as Vice President of Philanthropy, and now as CEO, he has helped transform the Foundation’s impact through innovative leadership and community-driven strategies.

David’s connection to the sports world is deeply rooted. He founded the Ottawa Champions Baseball Club and co-founded the Miracle League of Ottawa—an award-winning, fully accessible baseball facility for children with special needs. His belief in the power of sport to inspire inclusion and community engagement continues to shape his leadership philosophy.

A recognized changemaker, David was named to Ottawa’s “40 Under 40” in 2009, became a Member of the Order of Ottawa in 2014, and was awarded AFP Ottawa’s Outstanding Fundraising Executive in 2022. He has served on numerous boards including the Ottawa Public Library, Ottawa Community Housing Foundation, and Ottawa Sport Council.
