Tony Lackey

Tony Lackey is a seasoned risk manager with over 30 years of experience in risk management and claims administration. As  Executive Director, Risk and Insurance Services for Carleton University, his responsibilities included overseeing the university’s risk management program, including its Enterprise Risk Assessment process. Tony authored Carleton’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Policy. Before entering the field of risk management, Tony spent 20 years in property and casualty insurance with a focus on claims management. Since he retired from Carleton University in 2022 Tony has acted as Principal of his own company TL Risk Solutions.

 In addition to his career in risk management and insurance claims, Tony has been an instructor with Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business for over 20 years,  teaching the Canadian Risk Management certification courses, and leading workshops on Enterprise Risk Management for non-profit and for-profit and organizations.  He has developed and led risk management training programs and presented at numerous conferences.

Tony is a Fellow of the Global Risk Management Institute, holds the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation, and is a Fellow Certified Insurance Professional. In 2017 Tony was awarded the Don Stuart Award by RIMS Canada for his contribution to the risk management profession in Canada and he continues to be an active member of the Risk Management Society (RIMS) .
