The Department of Health Sciences will be hosting an upcoming virtual seminar presented by Dr. Tommy Alain, CHEO Research Institute, University of Ottawa. Please join us on Thursday, May 13th at 12pm via Zoom to hear more about Viral Oncolysis and Translation Control.
Dr. Alain and his team at the CHEO Research Institute and the University of Ottawa study how cells use their protein synthesis machinery to respond to various conditions including viral infection, drug treatments, radiation exposure and malignant transformation. Our mechanistic approach aims to exploit mRNA translation control and signaling pathways to modulate innate immune responses to oncolytic viruses, and to augment efficacies of cancer therapeutics.
