Practicum Description
The MSc in Clinical Trials and Regulatory Affairs has 2 pathways available: 1) practicum pathway, 2) course-only pathway. The practicum pathway is designed for students that have an undergraduate or graduate degree in health sciences or a related field, but little or no experience working in the clinical trials and regulatory affairs sector. Per assessment by the Program Coordinator, students with sufficient relevant experience in clinical trials and regulatory affairs may be exempted from the practicum and be eligible to complete the course-only pathway.
The practicum consists of a four (4) month placement at an external organization in the community, such as research institutes, government agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and contract research organizations (CROs). Occurring following completion of the three (3) study terms, the practicum provides an experiential learning opportunity for the synthesis of all learnings. This opportunity allows students to gain practical expertise by applying knowledge and skills provided through the program to the real-world work setting.
