The Indigenous Enriched Support Program (IESP) supports First Nations (status and non‑status), Métis, and Inuit learners who want to pursue post‑secondary education. Students take first‑year credit courses while benefiting from a strong network of peer mentors, academic coaches, dedicated advising and personalized workshops. When they complete the program, students qualify and are supported to apply to a degree program.
IESP is a great fit for learners who may not yet meet full admission requirements, are unsure which program they want to pursue, are returning to school after time away or simply want additional support as they transition into post‑secondary studies.
The Indigenous Enriched Support Program provides:
- Personal and accessible help with application processes, course registration, program selection and academic career planning
- A network of instructors, academic subject facilitators, peer mentors, writing and study skills coaches and program coordinators who work together to ensure participants’ success
- An Indigenous Studies First-Year Seminar
- Indigenous-Specific Counselling
- Indigenous peer mentors who provide participants with personal and front-line support in accessing IESP and Indigenous resources on campus.
- Offered in two streams:

Eighty to 90% of students who fully participate in the IESP are eligible for admission to a degree after their IESP year. Former IESP students have gone on to study in postgraduate programs, such as law, teacher’s college and master’s and PhD-level graduate programs.
