My lab-based research program is unique in that it encompasses mammalian and microbial systems, focusing on the enzymes involved in the metabolism of the sulfur-containing amino acids cysteine, homocysteine and methionine. This reflects my interest in knowledge translation and the relevance of the expertise of my research group to the major questions facing society today (e.g. in the areas of nutrition, medicine, health and the environment).

I have also had the opportunity to participate in the collaborative interdisciplinary projects that engage community partners to address issues at the research-policy interface in public health. As a member of an interdisciplinary supervisory team, I have co-supervised student teams collaborating with colleagues at Ottawa Public Health and the Almonte General Hospital.
