Dr. Ola G. El-Taliawi is a Tenured Assistant Professor of Public Administration and Policy Science at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. She is also an elected College Member of the International Public Policy Association. Prior to joining the University of Twente, she undertook a two year post-doctoral fellowship in Global Refugee Policy at Faculty of Public Affairs at Carleton University in Canada. Dr. El-Taliawi holds a Ph.D. from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the American University in Cairo. Her doctoral research project, which was nominated for the Wang Gungwu Medal and Prize, focused on the comparative politics of refugee policymaking in the Middle East, with specific emphasis on the Syrian Refugee Crisis in Lebanon and Jordan. While working on this project, she conducted extensive fieldwork in both countries, where she was hosted as a Research Fellow at the University of Columbia’s Middle East Centre in Amman (Jordan) and at the American University of Beirut (Lebanon). Dr. El-Taliawi’s Her work experience spans across the public, private and non-profit sectors, where she’s worked as a Lecturer, Researcher, Consultant & Executive Trainer. She has spoken in international conferences on numerous occasions, including as a guest speaker at the International Labour Organization (Geneva). Her research lies at the intersection between forced migration, gender and governance.
