Why Did You Want to Become a Mentor?
I wanted to become a peer mentor because I was a mentee in my first year. I remember the transition from high school to university was so hard and took a lot of time to get used to. Leaving hometowns, families, and friends can be so difficult, so I wanted to be here to make the mentee’s transition so much easier! I remember first-hand the feeling of being lost in the first few months of university, I want to be the person that my mentees can talk to/ask me anything and I can make them feel included in the community. Having the routine of talking to someone at least once a week makes a big impact, it gives mentees a built-in friend, advice giver, and support system!
