Why did you want to become a mentor?
I wanted to become a First Year Connections (FYC) mentor as I had immensely benefitted from participating in this program in my first year as a mentee and wanted to extend my support to other new students to help them have a smoother transition to university life. As an international student, I gained a lot of helpful knowledge via this program, and my mentor was usually my first point of contact in case I had any doubts about the social or academic aspects of the university. Hence, being an FYC mentor was the perfect opportunity to get involved on campus and offer my assistance to fellow Ravens!
What is one thing you wished you knew in your first year?
Don’t hesitate to ask for help from anyone, whether it is the FYC mentors, professors, TAs, or the administrative staff. Most people are very helpful, and would direct you to useful sources! On the academic side, going to office hours is a great way to clear all your doubts, and also build a nice rapport with your instructors/department :)

I was an avid quizzer in high school and won several state-level and national-level quiz competitions in India!
