Dr. Hymie Anisman received his Master's in Psychology from Memorial University in 1970 and his PhD in Psychology from the University of Waterloo in 1972.

Scholarly Work & Research Interests:
The Anisman Lab has three primary focuses: stress and health, inflammation and disease, and persistent impact of generational trauma. The following some of the research projects they're working on:
- How individuals with genetic variants respond to early-life and adult stressors to promote depressive disorders and positive environmental experiences to promote resilience against mental health outcomes
- How cytokine levels and production may be related to stressor events and features associated with depression and its subtypes, including dysthmia (chronic and low grade depression) and major depression disorder (MDD)
- How psychosocial stressors (e.g., stigma, trauma, and socialization) relate to neurochemical disturbances and psychological symptomatology among visible minority groups
