September 20, 2019

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the Carleton University community acknowledges the loss of Prof. A. O. Abd El Halim, who passed away on Sept. 19, 2019.

Throughout a storied career at Carleton spanning nearly four decades, Halim made many outstanding academic and professional contributions to the university, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering and Design.

Halim was set to retire this December following more than 38 years of dedicated service at Carleton. He will be greatly missed by friends and colleagues within the Carleton community, as well as the countless students he has inspired over the course of his career.

For those wishing to attend a formal service in Halim’s memory, there will be a service on Sept. 21.
