Phillips’ research focuses on public policy and regulation of philanthropy and the non-profit sector, financing of charities and non-profits, cross-sectoral collaboration, community foundations and place-based philanthropy.

Pue is available to comment on debates about the role of philanthropy in society, the link between philanthropy and inequality, the role of non-profits in Canadian social services and emergency management, as well as the impact of COVID-19 on philanthropy and non-profits.
