Environment Canada’s Weather Alert for Ottawa on Feb. 26, 2020
To All Members of the Carleton Community,
This morning, Environment Canada issued a weather alert for the Ottawa region in anticipation of a winter storm starting tonight. Light snow is expected to turn to heavy snowfall later tonight. Heavy snow will then continue into Thursday morning before tapering to flurries late Thursday. Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 centimetres are likely by late in the day Thursday.
Commuters and visitors to campus should exercise caution in their travels and give themselves extra time when travelling to and from campus.
Please exercise caution when commuting above ground on campus and use the tunnels whenever possible. To report areas of concern, please contact the Facilities Management and Planning (FMP) Service Centre by email or by phone at 613-520-3668. FMP crews will be out clearing university pathways, parking lots and roads.
Carleton University employees who are concerned about their commute home today or their commute to the university tomorrow morning are asked to speak with their supervisors or chair about departure and arrival plans.
At this time, the university plans to be open tomorrow, but the situation will be closely monitored and further updates will be issued.
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to check the Carleton.ca home page and the Current Students special weather page for updates on the university’s status.
