Carleton Experts Available – Taliban Control in Afghanistan

The Taliban has taken over control of Afghanistan and Carleton experts are available to comment.

Hampson’s research interests include, Canadian foreign policy, internet governance, international organization, international negotiation and conflict resolution and analysis. Hampson is the president of the World Refugee & Migration Council.  He is available to comment on the situation in Afghanistan, particularly on the humanitarian dimensions and what needs to be done to secure the safety and security of Afghan citizens.

Michael Petrou is an historian and journalist. As a journalist, Petrou has reported from across the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa and Europe. He’s won three National Magazine Awards. His 2012 book, Is This Your First War? Travels Through the Post-9/11 Islamic World, won the Ottawa Book Award for non-fiction.

Petrou is a fellow at the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies. His research interests include modern Canadian, European and Middle Eastern history.

Stephen Saideman

Saideman is the director of the Canadian Defence and Security Network. His current research focuses on the role of legislatures in democratic civil-military relations.  He teaches courses on contemporary international security, civil-military relations and US foreign and defence policy.
