June marks Pride Month, a time to celebrate the 2-spirited, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community, and Carleton experts are available to comment on related topics and research.

Alexis Shotwell
Professor, Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University

Shotwell works in social and political theory, with a current focus on complicity and complexity as a ground for ethical and political action. She also worked on the history of AIDS activism in the Canadian context. Shotwell is available to discuss these subjects along with queer joy.

Ryan Conrad
Professor, The Pauline Jewett Institute of Women’s and Gender Studies at Carleton University

Conrad has worked on research relating to AIDS activism in Canada and on the history of queer cinema in Canada. He can speak to the legacies of 1969’s Criminal Code Reform as well.
