Carleton Ranks High in Maclean's 2022 University Ranking
The 2022 university rankings published in Maclean’s magazine on Oct. 7, 2021 underscore Carleton University’s leadership in the post-secondary sector, particularly in the areas of research, student awards, and Indigenous initiatives.
Carleton maintained its top 5 overall ranking in the comprehensive category — universities with a significant amount of research activity and a wide range of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including professional degrees.

“I am proud that Carleton’s outstanding achievements and reputation are being recognized in these national rankings,” said Carleton President Benoit-Antoine Bacon.
“This highlights to the notable momentum that is taking place in all areas of our university community and is a testament to the amazing work of our faculty, staff and students, particularly over the very challenging last 18 months.”
Carleton’s leadership in research was recognized with a jump to No. 2 in funding in the social sciences and humanities, and it maintained its No. 5 position in science and medical funding.
In the area of student satisfaction, Carleton’s wealth of teaching talent was recognized as it secured the No. 4 spot for Course Instructors, and rose up to the No. 5 spot for Promoting Indigenous Visibility.
