The 2023 OCSNRS was hosted by Carleton University on March 3, 2023
The Ottawa-Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium is an annual, one-day conference where students from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa connect, present their research, and learn from each other. We have accepted abstracts from undergraduate and graduate students from a wide variety of disciplines relevant to polar regions. Attached is the schedule for the day.

Dear Students and Faculty,
The Ottawa-Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium (OCSNRS) is an annual, one-day conference that will be held on March 3, 2023. It will provide an opportunity for students from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa to connect, present their research, and learn from each other. This year, OCSNRS will be hosted at Carleton University.
We are now accepting abstracts from undergraduate and graduate students of any discipline, provided that the research is relevant to the northern or southern polar regions. Presentations can be on projects of any stage, including project proposals and completed research. Both French and English abstracts are welcome. Please indicate in the Google form whether you will be presenting a talk or a poster.
The deadline to submit an abstract is January 31 February 5 at 23:59 via https://forms.gle/2J465T5wk8CGwsJr8.
The keynote speaker this year is to be determined.
We will also be having a photo contest if you wish to participate – photos can be of any subject, provided it was taken in the geographic north or south. Participants in OCSNRS 2023 can submit photographs with their abstract submission in the Google Form provided above.

Photo Contest
We will be hosting a photo contest for students who would like to showcase the beauty and uniqueness of northern landscapes.
Who can participate?
Anyone attending the symposium can participate. You don’t have to be presenting to participate in the photo contest.
What do you have to submit, and when?
Please submit a high-resolution photo that you have taken in the geographic north or southern polar regions. Your photo can be of any subject – people, animals, plants, landscapes, etc.
Send your photo to https://forms.gle/2J465T5wk8CGwsJr8 by January 31, 2023.
How will the winner be chosen?
Participants and guests to the symposium can vote for their favourite photo during the day. The winner will receive his or her photo printed in large format and framed.

Le Symposium Étudiant de Recherche Nordique d’Ottawa-Carleton (SERNOC) est une conférence annuelle d’une journée qui aura lieu le 3 mars 2023. Il donnera l’occasion aux étudiants de l’Université Carleton et de l’Université d’Ottawa de se rencontrer, de présenter leurs recherches, et d’apprendre les uns des autres. Cette année, l’SERNOC aura lieu à l’Université Carleton.
Nous acceptons maintenant les résumés des étudiants de premier cycle et des cycles supérieurs de toute discipline, à condition que la recherche soit pertinente pour les régions polaires nord ou sud. Les présentations peuvent porter sur des projets à n’importe quel stade, y compris des propositions de projets et des projets de recherche complets. Les résumés en français et en anglais sont les bienvenus. Veuillez indiquer dans le formulaire Google si vous comptez présenter un exposé ou un poster.
La date limite pour soumettre un résumé est le 31 janvier 5 février à 23h59 via https://forms.gle/2J465T5wk8CGwsJr8.
La conférencière principale de cette année reste à déterminer.
Nous organiserons également un concours de photos si vous souhaitez participer – les photos peuvent porter sur n’importe quel sujet, à condition qu’elles aient été prises dans le nord ou le sud géographique. Les participants à SERNOC 2023 peuvent soumettre des photos avec leur résumé dans le formulaire Google fourni ci-dessus.

Concours Photo
Un concours de photographie est organisé dans le cadre du symposium pour exposer la beauté des paysages nordiques dans les photos d’étudiant(e)s.
Qui peut participer?
Tous ceux qui seront présents lors du symposium. Vous n’avez pas besoin de soumettre un résumé pour une affiche ou une présentation pour participer au concours.
Qu’est-ce que vous devez soumettre et quand?
Une photo de haute-résolution qui a été prise dans les regions polaires. Tous les types de photos sont acceptés, c.-à-d. personnes, faune, flore, paysages, etc.

Comment sera choisi le gagnant?
Les participants au symposium pourront voter pour leur photo favorite durant la journée. Le ou la gagnant(e) recevra sa photo imprimée et encadrée en grand format.
