John Bruce is General Counsel at Field Effect Software Inc., a cybersecurity firm in Ottawa, Canada. Prior to this role, he spent 20 years as Government of Canada Department of Justice counsel, providing legal advice and strategic policy analysis to the Government of Canada on cyber security issues and cyber operations. John is also an Associate Fellow in the Cybersecurity Program at the International Institute for Strategic Studies where his areas of research include domestic and international cybersecurity law and policy, and the international law and international relations implications of state behaviour in cyberspace. John has a Masters of Law in Law and Technology from the University of Ottawa.
