The Faculty of Science at Carleton University invites applications from qualified nursing candidates for a position as a Contract Instructor in our School of Nursing for the first cohort of direct-entry, compressed Bachelor of Science in Nursing, degree program. The program adopts an innovative approach to nursing education. Through experiential learning, theory, research and clinical practice, the program is unique in its integration of advanced technology, experiential learning and cultural humility to prepare tech-savvy, compassionate and practice-ready nursing students. Our curriculum, which emphasizes Indigenous health concepts and mental health awareness for both the patients and the providers, will foster community-focused, inclusive healthcare innovators.

The successful candidate will be expected to design, teach, evaluate and incorporate best practices in supporting interpersonal communication skills and supervise/mentor students in the entry to practice competencies as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

Position Overview

We’re hiring 1 Contract Instructor to teach the following course in the Faculty of Science, School of Nursing. Please note that we have provided tentative dates of course delivery that may be subject to change pending final confirmation of the course schedule:

Designated ModalityTo the discretion of the instructor with preference given to in-person learning for the majority of delivery (Carleton University delivers programming in Kanata at 350 Legget Drive as well as central campus).

*Class is currently scheduled on Tuesday from 8:35am-11:25am from May-July 2025 at central campus.

Course description: This course focuses on introduction and development of effective communication strategies in healthcare, including therapeutic, interprofessional, closed loop, conflict resolution and feedback skills.
